DESCRIPTION: Ezra Chitando is the Regional Coordinator for Southern Africa for the  World Council of Churches Ecumenical HIV and AIDS Initiatives and Advocacy.  He has developed significant and prophetic theological writing on gender and HIV, emerging as a leading theological voice in reminding me of their responsibilities to work for gender justice and articulating a vision of redemptive masculinities.  In this piece, Dr. Chitando draws on the lessons learned from the HIV pandemic to remind us of the need to reflect on what we can be thankful for in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak.
