Background:  This document provided a follow up to the formative report, The Church’s Challenge for Health, published in 1992. As a follow-up, The Challenges of Faith and Health describes the important though often overlooked work that local faith communities were already doing to improve health outcomes in their communities and to begin to articulate the distinctive contributions that religious communities and faith-based organizations could provide for health.
