If You Abide in God, You Abide in Love An Interview with Dr. Selika Sweet, MD, FAAFP Family Medicine Doctor, Pearl, MS 

Dr. Sweet begins by explaining how she chose the profession of family medicine, describing her medical education at Meharry Medical College and her residency in Louisiana. Dr. Sweet and Dr. Sexton discuss their shared experiences raising children as single mothers and then Dr. Sweet recounts her interest in writing short stories and essays; many of Dr. Sweet’s written pieces focus on life in Mississippi. 

This leads the interview into a discussion of forecast models projected that Alabama and Mississippi will be among the top-five states in incidence of COVID-19 cases.  Dr. Sweet describes the clinical contexts of the COVID-19 outbreak. Dr. Sexton asks what faith leaders can do to help their communities respond to COVID; Dr. Sweet urges local religious leaders to develop a relationship with the medical providers in their communities so that they can refer parishioners for treatment.
